Water - the wonder of nature

Water – the elixir of life for humans, plants and animals

Water is the most precious element that our earth has to offer.

The liquid element gives life to everything. Without it, humans, plants and animals would not be viable and our green-blue planet would not exist.
The earth is full of life. The richness of the vegetation itself provides a habitat for countless terrestrial and aquatic species. The biodiversity of our planet is infinite and it is estimated that there are almost 9 million animal and plant species . Almost three-quarters of them are land creatures, and a good quarter are marine creatures.

Plant and animal cells

Although plant and animal cells differ anatomically in their cell structure and physiologically in their metabolic processes, neither can survive without liquid.

The liquid element “H2O” is therefore of the utmost importance in all forms of life:

1.) Land plants are given food to grow, develop, regenerate and also to store the precious elixir. Without sufficient hydration, they would dry out. Many land plants are used by humans and animals as food or raw materials for the production of everyday products and objects.

2.) For Aquatic plants it is both habitat and food. Without it, the habitats of seas, lakes, rivers, ponds, streams and their species-specific vegetation would not exist. Numerous aquatic plants also provide food for wildlife and humans.

3) Also for Land animals it means food, but also cooling, refreshment and cleansing. Drinking and therefore maintaining health is just as important for animals as it is for humans. Although humans and animals also differ in their anatomy and physiology, the animal body also consists of a high proportion of fluid. Metabolic processes would not be possible without sufficient fluid intake and the animals would die of thirst. This importance of water uptake is particularly evident in regions where water is scarce.

4) It offers for Aquatic animals food and habitat. Like land animals and humans, they are also dependent on the liquid element in order to survive. However, for anatomical reasons alone, without seas, lakes, rivers, ponds and streams, the majority of these animals would not be able to move at all. Their metabolic processes are adapted to the liquid element “H2O”.

For people , water is the basis of life:

a.) So it serves as Building material for all cells and organs. In the case of adults Water content of approx. 50 to 60 percent in the body . In infants, this proportion is even higher at around 70 to 75 percent. Children are around 60 percent. In old age, the proportion of water in the body decreases so that it can be below 50 percent.

b.) It is Building block of body fluids. The liquid element is irreplaceable in the blood, lymph, all digestive juices (saliva, gastric juice, pancreatic and bile secretions), urine, sweat, tear fluid, nasal secretions, vaginal secretions, semen, menstrual fluid and breast milk.

c.) For  it is also essential for a wide range of metabolic processes in the body. It is a solvent and also a means of transporting individual nutrients and oxygen in the blood. It also helps to remove metabolic waste products via the urine. It acts as a reaction partner in processes that are dependent on enzymes in the body.

d.) Also with the Thermal regulation of the body it plays a comprehensive role. When low temperatures act on the body, the liquid element acts as a heat accumulator. The normal release of moisture through the skin produces invisible water vapor. If the body is too hot or overheated, sweat is produced.

e.) It is also indispensable for the body in personal hygiene and in the use of home remedies and medicines .

Without regular drinking are the Health and consequently the ability of humans to survive is massively endangered. The liquid elixir of life could therefore also be called Elixir of survival
