Some people find it harder to drink water regularly than others. When it’s hot in summer, significantly more people regularly reach for a bottle or glass of water. But when the temperatures outside become cooler and there is no acute feeling of thirst, many people forget to drink regularly and strategies become necessary to keep the amount of water constant. You can use simple tricks to increase your water consumption in the fall and winter so that you drink enough water or healthy drinks containing water every day. Your health will thank you for it! We have compiled twelve different water drinking strategies. You are sure to find the right one for you.

So here are strategies for increasing water consumption, even in the cooler months of the year

1. the daily water target strategy

The general daily goal for healthy adults should be about two liters of water a day. To make sure you don’t lose sight of this goal, you can take the right amount of bottled water with you to work and place it visibly on the table in your office or workshop, for example.

2. the silence strategy

Carbonated mineral water bubbles and tingles wonderfully, but it also brings air into the stomach. If you want to drink more water than before, you should prefer mainly still mineral water or tap water. This is usually more refreshing and does not fill the stomach as quickly without the carbon dioxide it contains.

3. the taste experience strategy

You prefer to drink what you like! A good taste experience is always a motivation to eat or drink more. If you can’t get used to the bland taste of water, infused water can be flavored with pieces of fruit, vegetable slices, herbs, spices or edible plants.

4 The early bird strategy

If you start the day with a glass of tap or mineral water as soon as you get up in the morning, you have a vitality advantage. Hydration gently wakes up the body. This activates the metabolism. At the same time, the body has sufficient fluid available for all physical activities.

5. the before-meal strategy

You are automatically reminded to drink at every meal. This makes it easy to get into the habit of always having a glass of water with your meal. This not only replenishes your fluid reserves, but also gets your metabolism moving. It is also good for the figure, as it fills the stomach in advance without calories.

6. the replenishment strategy

In some restaurants, the waiters are real masters at refilling empty wine glasses immediately. Take these waiters as an example for your water glass. However, you should not force yourself to drink. It is better to drink more often, but a little less, because the body only has limited absorption capacity.

7 The carafe strategy

If you spend most of your time within your own four walls, it is certainly worth buying a water carafe. Perhaps there is still an old, beautiful heirloom in your wardrobe or you are treating yourself to a new fashionable design? If there is always a large carafe freshly filled with water on the table, you will automatically remember to drink.

8. the always-on strategy

Drinking is most often forgotten on the road. If you always have a water bottle full of water with you, you don’t have to wait until you feel thirsty to look for a drink. It is better to take a few sips every now and then. There are beautiful glass water bottles and also practical plasticizer-free plastic bottles.

9. the straw strategy

Drinking water should be fun. Some people find it easier to drink water if it has a fun effect. Who didn’t like using a straw to drink as a child? Now and again, using straws can increase the pleasure of drinking water, as people like to “suck” on the straw from time to time.

10. the reward strategy

There are people who need an incentive for everything. You can create your own personal collection card for drinking water from a sheet of paper or a blank index card. Simply draw a cross for each glass you have drunk. After 6 or 10 or 20 glasses, for example, there is something tasty from the bakery or a wellness bath in the evening.

11. the note strategy

Whether at home, at work, in the car or on vacation, there is always room for a reminder note. Buzzwords such as “water”, “drink”, “drink water” or simply a smiley can be enough to remind you to drink water regularly. The small help note should be placed in such a way that it frequently catches your eye.

12. the smartphone strategy

If you use your smartphone or i-Phone all the time, you can also integrate drinking water into the technology. Setting a drinking reminder can be helpful. A blocking photo of a glass of water or a landscape with water can also remind you to drink. There are also water apps that support regular drinking.   Simple strategies can be used to keep the amount you drink at a constant level – even in colder temperatures.
